Amazon EC2 memo (CentOS5)

Amazon EC2上にアプリケーション環境を構築するためのメモ。とりあえず使い慣れたCentOS5を探してみた。

CentOS 5 i386 Base AMI

AMI id : ami-0459bc6d

• Turned off acpid, anacron, apmd, autofs, bluetooth, cpuspeed, cups, firstboot, gpm, hidd, irqbalance, kudzu, nfslock, pcscd, portmap, readahead_later, rpcgssd, rpcidmapd, smartd, yum-updatesd.
• Removed the kernel RPM package.
• Installed openssh-server, openssh-clients, ruby RPMs via yum.
• Installed the 2.6.16-xenU kernel module package provided by Amazon.
• Disabled password authentication in /etc/sshd/sshd_conf.
• Declared the RUBYLIB environment variable in /root/.bash_profile.
• ec2-api-tools or s3sync.rb are not included but may easily be added, along with any other required application.
• Install the epel and remi repos to upgrade to the latest releases of PHP and MySQL. Google "remi epel" if unsure how to set up the repos.

This is an i386 image and may be deployed as a small instance in the cloud.

Edited to add:

• Run yum -y upgrade to upgrade to CentOS 5.2.
• Run depmod -a; modprobe loop before rebundling image.

RightScale等から提供されているものもあったがまずは一番シンプルなものを選択。
Fedoraなら結構な数のAMIが出ているんだけど・・・。いろいろ思うところあってこちらはまだ考えていない。
調査の結果でFedoraに切り替える可能性はある。
